Instead of real toys standing beneath a Christmas tree, thousands of children received a certificate that served as a “promise” to the real action figures to be released few months later. Who would think that such gimmick would actually work? But interestingly, it did! This was a display of the enormous amount of impression the “Force” Starwars had the public.

The first original 12 Starwars action figures were released by Kenner Toy Company in 1978, and Luke Skywalker was one of their top sellers, being the main protagonist of the Starwars Saga. These miniature toys revolutionized the concept of action figures as they were relatively smaller than the usual action figure during the time. As they were smaller in size, these were cheaper and much easier to collect since 4 action figures at the time were equivalent to one giant GI Joe.
