No true blue Star Wars fanatic is without his own Starwars action figures. It’s the ultimate collectible item for all die-hard fans out there. Everyone wants to get hold of the rarest and exclusive Starwars toys out there. The stores all over the world are loaded with these collector items and so does it flood the online market as well, both with genuine and fake ones to! But expect that these things don’t come cheap either.
The very first Star Wars action figures were released over half a year after the blockbuster movie first invaded the silver screen back in May 1977. But it wasn’t made of plastic, rather it was made out of cardboard paper! The Early Bird Certificate Package was noted as the first Kenner Star Wars action figure item. But it was without the real figures and just the empty box. During that time, due to the massive demand for StarWars miniature toys, Kenner Company could not manufacture enough toys to cater the upcoming Christmas season, so they came up with the idea of a pre-release form of the action figures. Instead of real toys standing beneath a Christmas tree, thousands of children received a certificate that served as a “promise” to the real action figures to be released few months later. Who would think that such gimmick would actually work? But interestingly, it did! This was a display of the enormous amount of impression the “Force” Starwars had the public.
The first original 12 Starwars action figures were released by Kenner Toy Company in 1978, and Luke Skywalker was one of their top sellers, being the main protagonist of the Starwars Saga. These miniature toys revolutionized the concept of action figures as they were relatively smaller than the usual action figure during the time. As they were smaller in size, these were cheaper and much easier to collect since 4 action figures at the time were equivalent to one giant GI Joe.
