What is the most beloved toy engine of all-time? Thomas the Tank Engine Toys of course! This cheeky little blue engine sure knows how to travel as it made its way into the hearts of little kids all over the world. But how did Thomas the Tank Engine came to be?
Thomas the Tank Engine is a quirky steam locomotive and one of the characters of Rev. W. V. Awdry’s fictional book – The Railway Series which was first published in the 1940s. He first appeared as a station pilot in a 1946 book entitled “Thomas the Tank Engine
". His main job was to thrust coaches for bigger and sturdier engines. He knew he was better off doing more important stuff like heading an express train, but our little hero has still many things to prove to the world. A British writer and producer Britt Allcroft stumbled upon the book and became interested in producing and bringing the stories to life. With this, Thomas became popular as he became the central character in a television show Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends which later on became Thomas and Friends. As a result, the show became an instant success and was favored by audiences around the world and had a wide range of spin-off commercial products. The first series having 26 stories had its premier in September 1984 in UK and got Ringo Starr as the storyteller. Because of the world wide sensation of Thomas and Friends among children, “Thomas” merchandise also became sought after. Several categories from different toy companies emerged.
The first Thomas the Tank Engine toys was a wooden push-along toy in the early 1940s. This was carved out of a broomstick by Reverend W. Awdry for his son Christopher. But now, different lucrative forms of Thomas the Tank Engine are available to children all over the world.

No true blue Star Wars fanatic is without his own Starwars action figures. It’s the ultimate collectible item for all die-hard fans out there. Everyone wants to get hold of the rarest and exclusive Starwars toys out there. The stores all over the world are loaded with these collector items and so does it flood the online market as well, both with genuine and fake ones to! But expect that these things don’t come cheap either.
The very first Star Wars action figures were released over half a year after the blockbuster movie first invaded the silver screen back in May 1977. But it wasn’t made of plastic, rather it was made out of cardboard paper! The Early Bird Certificate Package was noted as the first Kenner Star Wars action figure item. But it was without the real figures and just the empty box. During that time, due to the massive demand for StarWars miniature toys, Kenner Company could not manufacture enough toys to cater the upcoming Christmas season, so they came up with the idea of a pre-release form of the action figures. Instead of real toys standing beneath a Christmas tree, thousands of children received a certificate that served as a “promise” to the real action figures to be released few months later. Who would think that such gimmick would actually work? But interestingly, it did! This was a display of the enormous amount of impression the “Force” Starwars had the public.
The first original 12 Starwars action figures were released by Kenner Toy Company in 1978, and Luke Skywalker was one of their top sellers, being the main protagonist of the Starwars Saga. These miniature toys revolutionized the concept of action figures as they were relatively smaller than the usual action figure during the time. As they were smaller in size, these were cheaper and much easier to collect since 4 action figures at the time were equivalent to one giant GI Joe.
