The Need for an Extra Room for Your Toys
The world as we know it is really messed up. Mattel and Fisher Price, the very people who brought us Tickle-Me-Elmo as the toy of the season last Christmas, have allowed some of America's babies to play with and put in their little mouths, toys painted with lead paint. I do accept the explanation that their executives set guidelines for the factory owners in China. Part of the directive was don't use lead paint, however someone should have followed up on that. This is not a case of putting the wrong labels on clothing and not having it fit the American baby. This is an extreme danger to the little toddlers. How ironic that parents are buying educational toys - that may cause brain damage if - change that to when - they put them in their mouths. It will be some time before the company regains the trust of the American public.
On the positive side, Fisher Price/Mattel has brought us that amazing Tickle-Me-Elmo. He can laugh, kick his feet in the air after falling on his back. He can then roll over and stand up all by himself. He even does a somersault. All this with one arm attached to his body. Did I mention that he can talk. I cannot praise him enough for his comedic value.
Back to the negative. That Barbie is still a sexy little thing for the three to seven year old set. Sure her hair is beautiful and I believe she dumped Ken last year, but she still has her feet permanently ready to slip in to high heels. She has definitely raised her aspirations from wanting to settle down in her townhouse with Ken and drive around in her convertible with her hair flowing behind her. Barbie has evolved into a modern girl. You will find her on the shelf at your favorite store wearing her white lab coat as she cares for animals in her Veterinarian persona. She has appeared as a teacher, on horseback, as a gymnast, a ballet dancer as well as modeling her annual Christmas outfit. You can buy her dressed in costumes representing countries around the world. Barbie loves Tickle-Me-Elmo as much as the kids do. She comes packaged with a little copy of him. She wears a picture of him on her shirt and carries a purse with him peeking from the front of it and his face is on her belt buckle. He giggles when you press his tummy just as the big acrobatic one does. The only warning on the box says "WARNING May Cause Uncontrollable Laughter." I hope that indicates we don't have to worry about lead paint on this toy.
Let's create a fictitious little girl about six years old. For fun we'll name her Ruby Doo. She loves her Elmos (and I say Elmos since there is the first Elmo from ten years ago, the Chicken Dance Elmo, the Hokey Pokey Elmo who sits next to the Elmo who simply is stuffed and soft and looks cute. He must be named old-fashioned Elmo. She lines them up and plays with one every now and then.
This week though it is her Barbie doll house and little sister Chrissy who keep her busy. I'm not sure which companies make all the craft toys but they are wonderful and she loves making things with them. But the latest advance that has mothers sighing with relief is the finger painting book which sells with paint that won't show up except on the paper it was intended to show up on. I think it is made by Crayola. I don't know how she or he did it but the employee who invented this deserves a big raise. From the mothers of America, we don't know what your name is but thank you - thank you - thank you..

We purchased this Barbie Camper for our 5 year old daughter. As a child, I had the original one which was introduced in 1972.It was quite durable and in fact, my kids still play with it! I was hoping this new model would be a great substitute for mine.. which is now quite shabby.
I was so disappointed in this new camper. It is so flimsy and cheaply made. It is basically a million little plastic parts that un- attach with the slightest pressure. This toy will never hold to repeated play. I wish we had bought something else as this will end up in the trash bin before long.
Waste of money!

My 4 year old loves this product… there are little pieces, but it is teaches her to pick her stuff up after she is done playing with it. Great Product Barbie

My 6 year old wanted the Barbie camper because she plays with my old one when she visits her grandma. I thought it would be a nice addition and although she is happy to have it and likes the fact it has sounds, she was complaining in the first 5 minutes that the wheels don’t work. Who designed a Barbie camper where the wheels aren’t low enough to really roll across the floor (carpet or hard flooring)? And I agree with the other comments that the sides don’t stay shut when you try to move it and the only storage space for the utensils/plates flies open all the time. It really is cheaply made. I think Mattel needs to do some serious design and quality control with its manufacturing plants. We also have the Barbie with the hair coloring and it is horrible quality. My girls still love to play with them and some of them are good like the John Deere Barbie…and I will say the Diamond Castle was well done when we bought that but the products are not consistently good like they were years ago.

My kid gave me the title for this note. I like it because it closes up easily at pick up time and one can drop in all one’s Barbie stuff inside.

So because this is a Barbie toy, we all know there is “no educational benefits”. Having said that, my daughter can play for hours with this, AND she shares with her friends. This toy does encourage socializing with other kids, through pretend play. It is what she begged for, which is why she got it, but it feels flimsy, and will likely break within months. Be careful, it does come with 30 very small parts, and if you have a younger child and/or pets that like to chew you will want to keep a close eye on those parts. In a nutshell, it made my daughter happy, and that is its redeeming quality.

My eight-year-old daughter got this for Christmas and she loves it. The zebra seats are a very cool pattern and she was able to put the stickers on the car all by herself. It of course is pink-what would Barbie be without her pink cars, lol? I do like the bigger wheels they make the car very sturdy and it rolls smoothly. The steering wheel moves, as does the review mirror and it does have seatbelts. The only thing I don’t like about this car is that the side mirrors come off-you can literally pull them right out of the side of the car! I am probably going to superglue them in so they do not get lost, in fact I am doing that as I write this review. Good car, great buy, although I agree with the other reviewer, as we only paid 13 dollars for this.

I got this toy at around 14 or so dollars. That seemed like a fair price. As of this posting, it’s $21.00. It isn’t worth that amount. Wait and catch it on sale. Other than that, it’s a good toy and my daughter really likes it.

Pretty cute car, easy to use for the 8 and 3 year old. Only one problem, no one could attach the side mirrors that needed to be assembled after opening the box.
